Talk and screening with Dorothee Wenner (Kinshasa Collection) and Sandra Ferracuti (Africa-Department, Linden-Museum Stuttgart)

(In English)

In Co-operation with Linden-Museum Stuttgart

Followed by the premiere of the recorded performance Les séquelles de la colonisation 2, Patrimoine africain en Europe et ses conflits by Raoul Tejeutsa Zobel (Snake) with Stone Karim Mohamad (Stone), which will be a part of the new exhibition Wo ist Afrika? (Where is Africa?) at the Linden-Museum Stuttgart.

Prior to the opening of the newly designed Africa exhibition at the Linden-Museum in March 2019, we will meet the exhibition’s curator Sandra Ferracuti and curator and filmmaker Dorothee Wenner for a discourse on the disrobement strategies of cultural clichés. Kinshasa Collection, Wenner’s most recent work is a web series and a fashion brand, capturing cultural clichés from Kinshasa and Guangzhou to Berlin and taking the audience on a rollercoaster ride of real and fake, piracy and appropriation. With casual irony, the project broaches the issue of western (re)production of images about Africa and the western way of dealing with brand piracy.

Kinshasa Collection was selected for the Expanded Media exhibition.
