Living in a tableau vivant:
Klöfkorn and Gavois are working on the schism of image and substance, meanwhile taking a swim in a body of oversized commercial imagery. They make up couple quarrels, murder scenes and one-minute film scripts, live and on screen. Klöfkorn and Gavois are fishing emails out of your spam folder. Effortlessly they switch between Norwegian stand-up comedy, film noir and tele favela. A headless live-collage-tragedy.
Marie Gavois is an interdisciplinary artist and performer based in Stockholm and Dortmund. Her artistry materializes issues of economic power and social policy in forms of performing arts, text, music / sound. Poetic politics, organization and independence interests her. Focus is on performance, in which she skillfully integrates music and noise dance as well as literary formations. Her work is many times minimalist and reduced to the essentials. She’s a member of the sound art and noise duo “Sisterloops” and a user at the Electronic Music Studio, EMS in Stockholm. 2014–2018 Gavois was the president of Fylkingen – new music and intermedia art in Stockholm.
I am an educated working professional artist living in Frankfurt and Dortmund. I am oscillating between independent art filmmaking and professional contract work for cinema and TV. Together with Oliver Husain I ran a music video production company from 1995 to 2003. Some of the videos are still being shown in international film and art festivals. I am an artist with good drawing skills, film history knowledge and a background in aesthetics. In 2004 I was awarded best German animation film, in 2012 best German experimental film. Between 2003 and 2006 I worked as an illustrator and animator for arte in Paris. Since 2000 I have been constantly working as a sound recordist. My films had been shown in museums, festivals and art venues
around the world, like Goethe-Instituts in Lagos/Nigeria, Bordeaux, Jakarta, Almaty, Washington, Center for Art Tapes Halifax. I was invited for Film retrospectives to Museum Tinguely Basel, DOK Leipzig, Cinema Nova Bruxelles, Kurzfilmfestival Köln.
