Exhibition from 21 December 2016 – 4 March 2017

Guided tour: 21 January 2017, 12:00 am.
Guest: Romeo Grünfelder

For the Stuttgarter Filmwinter 300th anniversary, Galerie b will present video works and mockumentaries questioning the boundaries between truths and lies.

In Romeo Grünfelder’s film “desi‘re – The Goldstein Reels”, a woman seemingly disappears. “The Centrifuge Brain Project“ by Till Nowak shows centrifugal science with the help of a roundabout. In the films “Boulevard” by Martin & The evil eyes of Nur and “Real Snow White” by Pilvi Takala, the absurd logic of “real characters” is taken up as the subject. In Maki Satake’s “Omokage”, memories and presence are being merged in a poetic play and in Terri Timely’s “Input/Output”, an everyday business breaks into a world full of illusions.

desi’re – The Goldstein Reels

Deutschland 2006, 3:30 Min.
Regie: Romeo Grünfelder

An old celluloid film is labeled as being from the estate of Jack Goldstein. The unusual S8 footage is nevertheless difficult to interpret. Due to partially missing data, place, time and author cannot be determined and keep the beholder in the dark. The ongoing investigation has not been able to produce a reasonable explanation of the circumstances.

The Centrifuge Brain Project

Deutschland 2011, 6:33 Min.
Regie: Till Nowak

The “Centrifuge Brain Project” describes a series of scientific experiments that started in the 1970s. Dr. Laslowicz, an ambitious centrifugal researcher, talks about the backgrounds of bizarre experiments conducted with giant amusement rides.

Österreich 2011, 3:40 Min.
Regie: Martin & the evil eyes of Nur

Being a superstar has recently become a career, which demands first and foremost, diligence: 24/7 and everywhere. The performance group Martin & The evil eyes of Nur carries this fetish to ironic extremes. In Boulevard, the fictional characters Herr Leitung and Pussy Hass pose with huge gestures and broken pathos at the most unglamorous sites in Vienna.

Real Snow White

Finnland/Niederlande, 9:15 Min.
Regie: Pilvi Takala

The absurd logic of the “real character“ and the extreme rules of Disneyland become apparent when a real fan of Snow White is banned from entering the theme park dressed as Snow White.

Japan 2010, 6:20 Min.
Regie: Maki Satake

My grandfather who was a photographer died about ten years ago. He left many forgotten photographs when I was a child.

USA 2015, 4:08 Min.
Regie: Terri Timely

Tricks, magic and illusions. Small things – but they have great effects and a big Impact.
